Michigan defensive back Jyaire Hill (20) tackles Michigan State wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. (3) during the second half at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024.

Following Michigan football’s win over Michigan State last weekend, seemingly everyone from each sideline was in the middle of the field – and not for handshakes. As time was running off the clock after a kneel down, Michigan tight end Colston Loveland and MSU defensive end Anthony Jones got into it. The Big Ten released a statement on Tuesday addressing the matter for the first time.

Statement from Big Ten

The announcement ended with the following message: “The Big Ten discussed the situation with both institutions and determined that no further action will be taken.”

Michigan running back Kalel Mullings got involved trying to break it up, and chaos ensued. Coaches and security helped break things up before anything relatively bad happened. However, some said Mullings appeared to be making a stomping motion during the incident.

The Big Ten said it couldn’t make a determination from the videos they had.

“Amidst the confrontation, student-athletes from both teams were on the ground and surrounded by so many individuals that both players were completely obscured from view,” the announcement read in-part. “The video review was inconclusive as to whether individual discipline was appropriate for anyone in the immediate vicinity of the two players who were on the ground.”
