Today, it was announced that Nimari Burnett, a former five-star guard from Alabama and new Michigan basketball transfer addition, will be immediately eligible in Ann Arbor for the upcoming season. This is excellent news for Juwan Howard and his Wolverines as they aim to rebound after a disappointing campaign in 2022-23.

Good news with new Michigan basketball transfer addition

According to recent reports by CBS Sports’ basketball reporter Jon Rothstein, Nimari Burnett, who was a notable addition to the Wolverines in March, will be able to play for Michigan right away. These reports also confirm that he will be a graduate transfer, further emphasizing his immediate impact in Ann Arbor next winter.

During his most recent season with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Nimari Burnett averaged 5.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. While these numbers may not be overly impressive, it is important to note that he is a talented guard who is expected to make a positive contribution to Michigan basketball in the upcoming year. ESPN has recognized him as a five-star recruit out of high school, indicating his evident talent.

Throughout the offseason, Juwan Howard has encountered some obstacles with his transfer portal class, including the de-commitment of his top transfer commit, Caleb Love. However, the news of Burnett’s immediate eligibility is a significant boost for the Wolverines, as it helps tie up one more loose end heading into the 2023-24 season.
