Certain players need to deliver on their potential this season for Michigan football to reach its potential and one of those players is left tackle Myles Hinton.

The 6-foot-6, 340-pound offensive tackle was a top-100 recruit coming out of high school. The Wolverines recruited him hard but he chose Stanford instead but transferred to Michigan football after three seasons with the Cardinal.

Last season, Hinton played in 14 games for Michigan football and made five starts. This season, the expectation is for him to be the full-time starter at left tackle. Earlier this offseason, offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell said Hinton has first-round potential and he’s not wrong.

Myles Hinton needs to deliver on his potential

Even Phil Steele sees the potential in Hinton as he ranked him as one of the top 25 offensive tackles in college football ahead of the 2024 season.

Hinton is ranked 11th among offensive tackles in college football according to Steele. The expected starter for Michigan football is ranked third among offensive tackles in the Big Ten behind Aireontae Ersery of Minnesota and Josh Simmons of Ohio State.

Hinton can easily be an All-Big Ten selection next season. Hell, he can be a First-Team All-Big Ten selection. That’s how much talent he has.

When he transferred to U-M, it was enticing because you wanted to see what the Wolverines could get out of Hinton, one of the best pieces of clay Sherrone Moore has ever had on the O-line — in terms of pure raw ability.

The potential is through the roof. We saw a little last season and if Michigan can get the most out of Hinton, the Wolverines might have the best left tackle in the Big Ten this season.
