Junior running back Benjamin Hall has joined a handful of other Michigan players in entering his name into the transfer portal less than one week out from the spring game. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Hall had a decent career at Michigan, but with all the competition at the running back position, he struggled to stand out. His freshman year, Hall was overshadowed by dynamic duo Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards, and by the time his sophomore year rolled around, it was Edwards alongside Kalel Mullings, leaving minimal room for Hall to stand out.

Benjamin Hall Has Talent, but Competition at Michigan is Fierce

Hall appeared in nine games over the course of his two years at Michigan, six of which occurred during his sophomore season. In 2024, he had 29 carries resulting in a total of 72 yards on the season.

The best game of Hall’s career so far, however, was against Indiana his freshman year. Hall earned offensive freshman of the game for his total of 58 rushing yards on nine carries, with his longest carry coming in at 19 yards.

A two-time letter winner at Michigan, there’s no doubt Hall had even more potential to grow in Ann Arbor, as he was expected to play alongside Justice Haynes and Jordan Marshall at the running back position this fall. Unfortunately, it seems the competition was too steep, and Hall made the decision to take his talents elsewhere, where he likely hopes to earn himself a starting job.
