Several Michigan football coaches sign contract extensions

These assistant coaches aren’t going anywhere any time soon

Michigan football is headed back towards the top of the mountain, and head coach Sherrone Moore is keeping the crew together for at least a few more seasons. According to MLive, six assistant coaches received offers for a contract extension.

Additionally, tight ends coach Steve Casula was promoted to co-offensive coordinator  and earned a 25-percent raise, putting his annual salary at $500,000.

Sherrone Moore extends several assistant coaches

Through a public-records request with Michigan, MLive obtained copies of the contracts. The details for each agreement are below.

  • HC Sherrone Moore – Year 2 of 5-year contract
  • OC/QB Chip Lindsey – Year 1 of 3-year contract ($1.4 million in 2025)
  • DC Wink Martindale – Year 2 of 3-year contract ($2.5 million in ‘25, $2.7 million in ‘26)
  • STC J.B. Brown – Year 2 of 2-year contract ($350,000)
  • LB Brian Jean-Mary – Year 2 of 3-year contract ($925,000 in ‘25, $950,000 in ‘26)
  • RB/RGC Tony Alford – Extended through 2027 season ($900,000 in ‘25, $925,000 in ’26, $950,000 in ‘27)
  • WR/PGC Ron Bellamy – Extended through 2026 season ($650,000 in ‘25, $675,000 in ‘26)
  • TE/CO-OC Steve Casula – Extended through 2026 season ($500,000 in ‘25, $500,000 in ‘26)
  • DL Lou Esposito – Extended through 2026 season ($600,000 in ‘25, $650,000 in ‘26)
  • DB/PGC LaMar Morgan – Extended through 2026 season ($725,000 in ‘25, $775,000 in ‘26)
  • OL Grant Newsome – Extended through 2026 season ($600,000 in ‘25, $625,000 in ’26)

Aside from what they bring with a headset on, coaches such as Tony Alford, Lamar Morgan and Grant Newsome are some of the best recruiters in the country. With these extensions in place, Michigan can focus on developing its young talent and getting back to a national championship.
