Sherrone Moore Speaks on the Potential of Quarterback Jadyn Davis

Could the Wolverines try another QB this season?

Michigan quarterback Jadyn Davis (2) warms up before the USC game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024.

Michigan football has gone through three quarterbacks in seven games, and none of them appear to be the answer. Senior Jack Tuttle got his first start against Illinois on Saturday, and the Wolverines put up seven points – the least amount of points they’ve scored in a decade.

Questions regarding the quarterback are still afloat, and Michigan could choose to go deep into the depth chart. Head coach Sherrone Moore said he’s liked what he’s seen from redshirt freshman Jadyn Davis.

“Just continue to learn to learn the system, learn the playbook, which I think he has done a good job of,” Moore said. “And continue to improve his strength and his things in his toolbox. So he’s definitely continued to progress”

What Does Jadyn Davis Bring to the Table?

Davis ended his high school career with back-to-back Division I state titles in North Carolina (Providence Day School). In those two seasons, Davis combined for nearly 7,000 passing yards and 86 touchdowns. Davis was a top 10 quarterback and top 100 player coming out of high school.

Davis hasn’t made an appearance in a game this season, so he could play in four of the final five games and remain a redshirt. Moore said Davis has grown the most in one specific area.

“Just probably progression and knowledge of — not only the system, but just football in general,” Moore said. “When you’re in high school, you do limited things. You’re limited in what you do. And he’s definitely taking steps to put himself in a good position.”
