People have said that the Connor Stalions story would make for a great documentary and now, the former Michigan football staff will get the chance to tell his side of the story in “Sign Stealer” which will be available on Netflix on Aug. 27.
Stalions was an analyst during the 2022 Michigan football season and was embroiled in sign-stealing allegations that caused former Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh to be suspended for three games.
It also left a dark cloud over a season that resulted in a national championship. Rivals, such as Ohio State and Michigan State, claimed Michigan used signs and essentially cheated to win.
Harbaugh has said repeatedly that Michigan football is innocent. There was evidence that Stalions purchased tickets at other games. But there has been zero connection to the on-field coaching staff from last season.
If there was, and the Big Ten or NCAA could prove it, I think the Wolverines would have gotten more than three games for Harbaugh, even if the entire scandal has been overblown.
Michigan football and Ohio State fans will be tuned in
It will be fascinating to hear from Stalions and his motivations. Did he believe he was breaking the rules or did he think he found a gray area? Were other teams doing the same? Did Michigan coaches know?
Those are some of the questions I’m hoping will be answered or reinforced. It’s hard to know what we’re going to see but I don’t think Connor will put Michigan in a bad light. Either way, it’s going to be wild and you can bet Michigan and Ohio State fans will tune in like crazy to get the story straight from Stalions.
Maybe we’ll finally get an answer for the Central Michigan controversy, but either way, it’s going to be must-see TV for fans of the Wolverines.
