Some days it’s better to be a Michigan Wolverine than others and today is a great day. Michigan football needed a running backs coach and on Wednesday, after a jaw-dropping hire was teased by insiders, Tony Alford of Ohio State informed the Buckeyes he will be joining Sherrone Moore’s staff to replace Mike Hart.
Alford was literally on the practice field this week with Ohio State before informing Ryan Day he’ll be joining Michigan football as the running backs coach. It was first reported by Football Scoop and Alford brings an experienced hand. Pete Thamel, known Buckeye lover, later confirmed it.
Hart has been stellar with the Wolverines over the past three seasons. He helped Michigan put together a dominant running game as run-game coordinator. Yet, Alford is elite on the recruiting trail. He’s also been the run-game coordinator and assistant head coach (for offense) at Ohio State. He was on staff there for nine years meaning this is a huge hire for Sherrone Moore.
Here are some social media reactions.
Social media reactions to Michigan football stealing the Buckeyes’ RB coach
There have been some great social media reactions to this hire by Michigan football. This one by The Wolverine might take the cake. It will be hilarious to see the discourse from the Ohio State side of things as they try to explain this one away.
