Social media reacts as Michigan basketball sets program record for losses

Social media wasn’t happy as Michigan basketball set a program record with its 23 loss on Sunday, along with the 17th in Big Ten play.

Social media has been a tough place for Michigan basketball fans this season. It’s also been incredibly tough on head coach Juwan Howard as the Wolverines just wrapped up an 8-23 season with a 3-17 record in the Big Ten.

Michigan basketball hung with Nebraska for a half on Sunday. It was similar to many of the games this season. The Wolverines led at the half of more than half of their Big Ten games. They just don’t have the talent or depth to hang for 40 minutes in the Big Ten which is incredibly disappointing.

Still, the program would be better. There are way too many wide-open layups and dunks. The transition defense is terrible and you can’t win games if you rank 186th in adjusted defensive efficiency according to Kenpom.

However, we don’t know what will happen with Juwan Howard. All signs point to him returning for another season but we won’t know until after the Big Ten tournament. At least that’s my guess.

Warde Manuel must be thinking this season is like the 2020 season for Jim Harbaugh. There’s a solid recruiting class coming in and that would surely be lost if Juwan was fired. But there should have to be a plan in place because this ineptitude can’t continue.

It’s hard to watch and it’s gotten so bad that even John Beilein declined to comment last weekend after an ugly loss for Michigan basketball. Here’s a look at what social media is saying following the 85-70 defeat to Nebraska.
