This fall, the Michigan football defensive line will undergo some changes compared to previous seasons. However, this is likely a positive development, as the Wolverines boast one of the best units in the nation. Today, Pro Football Focus released its rankings of the top 10 highest-graded defensive tackles in the Big Ten for the upcoming 2023 college football season, and two standout players from the Maize and Blue made the list.

Today, Pro Football Focus, a trusted and respected football analytics outlet, released its rankings of the top 10 highest-graded defensive tackles in the Big Ten for the upcoming 2023 college football season. Two standout players from the Michigan football defensive line made this prestigious list.

The first Wolverine named is Kris Jenkins, who has added significant weight and is prepared for an increased workload in the upcoming season. Although Jenkins showed promise last year for the Maize and Blue, he was lighter and more versatile. However, this season, Jenkins will be stepping up to fill the void left by Mazi Smith, the Wolverines’ first-round draft pick nose tackle, who is now playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

The second standout from the Michigan football defensive line named on PFF’s top 10 list is Mason Graham. Although Graham has not had many opportunities to showcase his skills with the Wolverines thus far, he is receiving significant national attention and is expected to take on a larger role in the upcoming 2023 season.

Both Graham and Jenkins are tied for 3rd place in the Big Ten rankings, boasting an impressive overall PFF grade of 80.3 heading into the 2023 season.
