When will Michigan football recruiting have more fireworks?

It’s the Fourth of July and Michigan football fans might be wondering when they can expect more recruiting fireworks.

June was a spectacular month for Michigan football recruiting and to use a Fourth of July reference, it was a month filled with fireworks.

The Wolverines landed nine commitments. That included a top-100 quarterback in the 2026 class (Brady Hart) and also eight pledges in 2025. All those commitments boosted the Michigan football recruiting ranking from outside the top 50 to 15th.

Yet, the Wolverines missed out on a few recruits who decided early in July. Maxwell Roy committed to Ohio State, Hardy Watts committed to Wisconsin and Marco Jones picked Texas A&M.

You can’t win them all as they say. However, Michigan football should have another recruiting win or two coming down the pike.

One name to watch is four-star linebacker Kamar Archie. EJ Holland of The Wolverine posted on Thursday that he feels like Michigan is the leader right now and that a commitment could come after this weekend.

Fireworks for Michigan football soon?

Archie is 6 feet, 200 pounds, and is ranked No. 261 overall according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Penn State and Rutgers are also in the mix for the Trenton, New Jersey recruit. Rutgers has the lead right now via the On3 prediction machine but he visited Michigan football last and told Holland he could see himself playing for the Wolverines.

Four-star tight end Andrew Olesh is also expected to announce a commitment after this weekend — on Monday — to be specific. The No. 130 overall prospect in 2025 and fifth-ranked tight end in the class, is deciding between Michigan football and Alabama.

The Tide has been making a strong push. Olesh even delayed his decision by a week, but all signs still point to a Michigan commitment still. Holland, for his part, said he feels good about his U-M prediction to land Olesh.
