Michigan football landed the commitment of top-100 2026 quarterback Brady Hart on Tuesday and it was massive for the Wolverines.
You could argue that it was the biggest commitment so far under new Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore. Hart is 6-foot-4, 180 pounds, and is ranked 92nd overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also ranked seventh among quarterbacks.
Some Ohio State fans still tried to mock the Wolverines, even though Ohio State literally offered Hart on Monday after watching him throw. However, Hart still chose Michigan football and U-M reportedly got an assist from J.J. McCarthy who FaceTimed with Hart, while he was in Columbus.
Brady Hart on choosing Michigan football over Ohio State
After that conversation, Hart committed to the Wolverines. I’m sure McCarthy wasn’t the only reason, but it surely didn’t hurt. Hart has been compared to McCarthy and Steve Wiltfong of On3.com even said he could see Hart developing into a five-star prospect.
Regardless, it was a big win for Michigan, which has landed a top-15 quarterback in three consecutive classes. Carter Smith, the 2025 commit, is a dual-threat quarterback. He’s got tremendous upside and is a perfect fit too. Hart is a pocket passer and has an elite arm with major upside.
Both players have chances to be stars. Jadyn Davis does too and having a QB room with that much talent bodes well for the future. As far as the commitment, Hart explained to EJ Holland of The Wolverine that the culture made a huge difference.
“When I walked out of Ohio State, I realized the culture that Michigan has isn’t everywhere. There is not a place like Michigan.”
