If you’re a Michigan football fan, chances are you have heard all about how disappointing the Wolverines’ 2023 recruiting class was. Michigan signed 24 prospects from the Early Signing Period to National Signing Day — 0 five-stars, ten four-stars, and 14 three-stars. The class ranks 3rd in the Big Ten (behind Ohio State and Penn State) and 18th nationally.
People were largely upset about Michigan’s recruiting struggles, citing the Harbaugh-NFL flirtation and NIL as leading contributors to the Wolverines’ hold ups in the 2023 class.
Michigan football hits the ground running in 2024 class
Since signing that class, Jim Harbaugh and his staff have already put the NFL rumors behind them and are hard at work on the 2024 class. The Wolverines already lead for a number of the nation’s top recruits — such as five-star North Carolina quarterback Jadyn Davis — and have hauled in seven commitments thus far. Of the Wolverines’ seven commits, five are four-star prospects.
Michigan’s most recent addition to the 2024 class was four-star in-state athlete Jacob Oden from Harper Woods High School. Additionally, the Wolverines have landed commitments from four other four-star players, one three-star player, and finally, one unranked player.
Michigan’s seven commits combine for 119.39 points with an average grade of 90.92 thus far. This is good enough to give the Wolverines a top 5 2024 recruiting class so far in the cycle; the scary part is that this class could (and should) continue to improve as time progresses.
If you were worried about the recent recruiting efforts of Michigan football, rest easy tonight, knowing that Jim Harbaugh and his staff are assembling an elite class in 2024.
