Ahead of the 2023 college football season, three Michigan football players have earned All-American honors from the Walter Camp Foundation. Interestingly, all three players are from the offensive side of the football. The new addition from the transfer portal, Drake Nugent, has been selected for the first-team offense as a center. Additionally, Blake Corum, the running back, also secured a spot on the first-team offense. Lastly, Zak Zinter has been recognized for his performance and placed on the second team.

3 Michigan football standouts named preseason All-Americans

Blake Corum, Zak Zinter, and Drake Nugent have all been named preseason All-Americans by the Walter Camp Foundation. The Maize and Blue boast the No. 1 running back room in the nation heading into the new season, and judging by the current state of affairs, it seems that no one can stop the Michigan football rushing attack.

Drake Nugent, the first Wolverine to be named, is a new addition from the transfer portal. After spending his previous college football seasons with the Stanford Cardinal in the PAC-12, Nugent has arrived in Ann Arbor with high expectations. He is set to fill the shoes of former Michigan football standout Olu Oluwatimi, who holds the distinction of being the most decorated Michigan lineman in program history.

Alongside Nugent is Zak Zinter, who has been named a second-team preseason All-American. Zinter has long been a standout for Michigan football, having previously been named an All-Big Ten selection. He has played a crucial role in the Wolverines’ back-to-back Joe Moore Awards.

Behind these two preseason All-American offensive linemen is senior sensation running back, Blake Corum. During the 2022 season, Corum came close to being a Heisman Trophy finalist but suffered an injury in Week 12. As the 2023 season approaches, Corum aims to lead his team to a national title while avoiding injury. He has the potential to go down as one of the greatest Wolverines in program history.
