Yesterday, On3 reported that Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of CU head coach and football superstar Deion Sanders, has the highest NIL valuation in college football right now. This prompted Blue by Ninety college football analyst @BBsBigHouse1 to dive into some stats when it comes to Michigan football NIL — as it turns out, JJ McCarthy, Roman Wilson, and Blake Corum are not doing too badly for themselves.
Michigan football NIL brands are some of the best in the Big Ten
Of the top 10 NIL valuations in the Big Ten right now, three of them play for Michigan football. In fact, junior quarterback JJ McCarthy, a superstar in the Maize and Blue, is the No. 1 valued player in the Big Ten Conference, according to the On3 NIL valuation machine.
Other Michigan football stars in the top 10 include senior running back Blake Corum (4) and senior wide receiver Roman Wilson (10) — both of whom have been impressive so far this year. On a national scale, JJ McCarthy ranks 5th in college football, while Blake Corum ranks 21st, and Roman Wilson ranks 67th.
Seeing as NIL has been a hot topic at Michigan football over the past few years, especially as of late, this is a great thing to see. While it was once widely believed that the University of Michigan was far behind in the world of Name, Image, and Likeness, it’s clear that the Maize and Blue are starting to become one of the top players in that world — at the perfect time, too.
While On3’s valuation does not directly translate into money in the bank, these three Michigan football superstars — JJ McCarthy, Blake Corum, and Roman Wilson — have some of the most valuable personal brands in the Big Ten and in all of college football right now.
