Yesterday, 247 Sports unveiled updated recruiting rankings, which saw a major jump upward for a four-star Michigan football commit. 2024 defensive back Jo’Ziah Edmond, a prospect out of Nappanee, IN, went from being ranked as the No. 646 prospect in the country to the No. 151 player in the nation — a major shift for the future Wolverine, to say the least.

Michigan football commit moves up 495 spots in new rankings

Jim Harbaugh is known to have a keen eye for talent, and thus far, Michigan football has reaped the rewards of Harbaugh’s recruiting and development. Ronnie Bell, Hassan Haskins, and many others were underrated targets that helped the Maize and Blue to Big Ten title and College Football Playoff appearances under Harbaugh’s watch this decade alone.

Yesterday, four-star Michigan football commit Jo’Ziah Edmond — a defensive back in the 2024 recruiting class — moved way up in the latest 247 Sports recruiting rankings. In fact, the future Wolverine cornerback jumped nearly 500 spots in the right direction, moving from No. 646 to No. 151 overnight.

Cornerback Jo’Ziah Edmond is on the rise in the 2024 recruiting class

Right now, the future Michigan football defensive back is a four-star recruit in the 247 rankings and in the composite rankings — he also ranks as the No. 13 cornerback and the No. 3 player in the state of Indiana.

A lot has changed for Edmond since the summer — a few months ago, he was a three-star cornerback recruit and committed to the Purdue Boilermakers. That said, after flipping to Michigan football in August, Edmond appears to be on the rise in all aspects of his game and is catching some national attention.

It is also worth noting that, with his new ranking, Edmond is now a top-5 commit in Jim Harbaugh’s 2024 Michigan football recruiting class.
