A sneaky good commitment for Michigan football

Michigan football landed the commitment of Michigan State legacy Kaden Strayhorn and here’s why it’s a sneaky good pickup.

For the second straight week, Michigan football has landed at least three commitments. U-M is up to two on Sunday following the pledge of three-star offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn.

Strayhorn is a Michigan State legacy and that makes this commitment taste even sweeter. So does the fact that the 6-foot-3, 295-pound offensive lineman also took official visits to Alabama and Ohio State before announcing a commitment after his Michigan visit.

Strayhorn is from Michigan but plays for the IMG Academy now. That’s always a positive in my view. He’s ranked No. 435 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and he’s ranked 28th among interior offensive linemen.

What Michigan is getting in Kaden Strayhorn

The Wolverines have been recruiting Strayhorn as a center. Michigan usually tries to land one center per class and that’s one reason why they zeroed in on Strayhorn who has a bright future and feels like a perfect culture fit.

Michigan football has had a lot of success at the center position over the years on the recruiting trail. Yet, they have had some high-level transfers over the past two seasons so they haven’t had to play Greg Crippen who has been waiting his turn to play.

Strayhorn should be a quality player just like Crippen. He’ll be a great piece to have on the interior offensive line and if needed, he could play multiple spots.

However, it’s easy to see Strayhorn following a similar career path as Crippen. He should be a multi-year starter and this is one where the rankings probably don’t reflect what a good get this is for Michigan.
