Ex-Michigan football commit trending towards ACC power: Miami

Michigan football has missed on a few top targets due to Miami’s recruiting prowess so far — the Hurricanes are reportedly a strong NIL machine, which the Wolverines struggle to compete with on the recruiting trail.

Not long ago, Chris Ewald Jr. decommitted from Michigan, and while he has not picked a new home just yet, it appears that he may be trending toward choosing Miami all said and done.

Per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the ex-Michigan football commit comes out of Hollywood, Florida, where a few of his home state’s teams are making a strong push for his commitment. While official visits and more over the summer could play a factor, there is a clear-cut favorite right now: the Miami Hurricanes, who have the best odds of landing him heading into the spring. Also listed as top contenders are the Auburn Tigers and the Florida State Seminoles.

Per the Industry Rankings, Ewald Jr. is a four-star cornerback, ranking as the No. 75 player in the country, the No. 9 cornerback nationally, and the No. 10 player in the state of Florida for the 2025 recruiting class.
