Last week, the Michigan Wolverines’ fall camp officially began in Ann Arbor, and already, a new Michigan football transfer addition is standing out ahead of the coming season. Ex-UMass cornerback Josh Wallace, one of the latest signees from the Michigan Wolverines’ 2023 transfer portal class, has emerged as a breakout player for the Maize and Blue as he battles for the starting cornerback spot scores from rising sophomore star Will Johnson.

Today is the first day of full pads practice — just eight days into Michigan Wolverines fall camp. For Michigan football, a few new transfer portal additions are already emerging as breakout candidates ahead of the coming college football season. Included among these new star players is ex-UMass cornerback Josh Wallace, who was a team captain and an All-Independant selection during his days with the Minutemen.

With cornerback depth at a premium right now, the Wolverines needed more talent and options to fill the starting role across from sophomore defensive back Will Johnson, who will be Michigan’s CB1 this year. As Michigan Wolverines fall camp trudges on, the battle for CB2 has not been decided, but it sounds like Josh Wallace has been just as impressive as expected.

“I’ve really been in the building a lot … way more than I was previously at UMass,” Josh Wallace told Jon Jansen on the ‘In the Trenches Podcast.’ “Mike Sainristil has been helping me a lot. He’s been my roommate in the hotel, as well. Since I got here, he and I have been like twin brothers. We come into the facility at the same time, and he’s been helping me a lot during this process. That’s how I picked up the playbook so fast.

“It’s very important (learning nickel and corner), because in the (NFL), the first year, they probably already have the outside guys. That’s how it usually works with the wideouts, too. So, you’ve got to be able to learn multiple positions at a time because if someone goes down, you’ve just got to be ready to come in. uni-bet-login.com/

“… I just want to develop the best way I can, absorb the most football knowledge that I can. We have a whole bunch of resources here at Michigan, so that’s really my main thing — just keep getting better as a football player.”

As fall camp comes to a close and the 2023 season kicks off next month, keep an eye on this new Michigan football transfer addition as he contends for a starting role and looks to guide this year’s defense back to the top of the Big Ten conference.
