The No.9-ranked Michigan Wolverines football program is just over a week away from the start of the 2024 season.

They will begin the Sherrone Moore Era at home as they host the Fresno State Bulldogs on Aug. 31. It will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Michigan has not gotten the respect that defending national champions generally do. The Wolverines received the lowest ranking of any defending national champion since Auburn began the 2011 season ranked 23rd.

Michigan vs Fresno State Betting Prediction

The Michigan Wolverines enter their Week 1 matchup with the Fresno State Bulldogs as massive favorites, and rightfully so. The Wolverines true early season test will come when the Texas Longhorns come to town the following week.

Despite Michigan having a much more talented roster, Fresno State could wind up covering the spread. The Wolverines offense is expected to have growing pains early in the season. With a first-year head coach and first-time starting quarterback, they could look to lean on their defense early on.

Although the Bulldogs will likely be outmatched, they are strong on both sides of the football. Furthermore, they should come to play for what will likely be their only nationally televised game. Look for Michigan to win, but for Fresno State to keep things within three touchdowns.
