This week, Michigan football lost another defensive player to the transfer portal, this time former four-star safety recruit Keon Sabb. At Michigan, Sabb showed lots of promise but struggled to find playing time in a safety room that included All-Big Ten safeties Rod Moore and Makari Paige. Sabb has become a highly sought-after transfer target and has recently garnered the attention of a top Big Ten Power. According to new reports, Penn State has been in contact with the former Michigan safety.

While Keon Sabb showed lots of promise at Michigan, the return of Rod Moore and Makari Paige would have left Sabb with minimal playing time. Just yesterday it was announced that Sabb would be entering the transfer portal, and in just one day, Sabb has become a highly recruited transfer.

According to 247 Sports, Sabb has already been contacted by 18 different schools. Among these schools is Penn State, a potential contender for next year’s Big Ten title.

Last year at Michigan, Sabb amassed 28 total tackles and two interceptions. As one of the hottest targets in the transfer portal, Sabb will likely make an immediate impact wherever he goes.

Michigan is losing a great safety to the transfer portal but will still have a strong secondary for 2024. The defense will see its next action this April in the annual Michigan Spring Game.
