Michigan football recruiting will enter spring ball with the No. 16 composite-ranked 2024 recruiting class which includes top prospects Jadyn Davis, Jordan Marshall, and more. With Harbaugh in the NFL, Sherrone Moore will now lead the charge on the 2025 recruiting class, which currently holds three recruits after the decommitment of top linebacker recruit Mantrez Walker. After reopening his commitment, it appears the former Michigan football commit may end up with a different Big Ten powerhouse.

Former Michigan football commit Mantrez Walker announces top-five schools

Mantrez Walker committed to Michigan with a four-star rating from Rivals but announced his decommitment last September. This week, Walker announced that he has narrowed down his top five schools.

Notably, Penn State is among the five schools trying to recruit the former Michigan football commit. The other schools fighting for Walker’s commitment are LSU, Colorado, Miami, and Ole Miss.

Having a blue-chip recruit flip to Penn State would be a major blow to Michigan recruiting. This week it was also announced that Penn State has been in contact with former Michigan football safety Keon Sabb as well. With the Nittany Lions entering 2024 as possible Big Ten championship contenders, these potential recruiting flips could be very costly for Michigan.
