Incoming quarterback Bryce Underwood is arguably the most anticipated Michigan football recruit in program history. Underwood, the No. 1 player in the class of 2025, has what it takes to change the offense in his first year. Standing at 6-foot-4, 228 pounds, he already has the size of an NFL signal-caller.
First, Underwood plans to bring some hardware to Ann Arbor.
Michigan QB Bryce Underwood wants to leave behind historic legacy
Underwood was one of the most highly recruited players in the country for the majority of his high school (Belleville High, Belleville, MI) career. He was consistently swarmed for interviews after games, and local television stations had lights in his face until he was out of sight.
As if being the potential savior of Michigan football wasn’t enough pressure, Underwood is rumored to be on the cover of EA Sports College Football 26. However, the incoming freshman phenom has experience in the spotlight.
“With social media being a huge thing, there’s going to be tons of cameras out, I already know that,” Underwood said on the Rich Eisen Show Wednesday. “My whole life, high school, 7-on-7s, everything that I’ve been going through, it’s been cameras out. It’s just another big step that’s about to happen, and that’s going to kick-off my legacy.”
As for what legacy he’d like to leave behind in the maize and blue, Underwood kept it short and simple.
“A couple Heismans and at least one natty,” he said.
The Wolverines brought in senior quarterback Mikey Keene from the transfer portal (Fresno State), but Underwood is expected to be the opening week starter.
