Charles Woodson had tremendous success as a Michigan football player, winning a Heisman and national title. That success carried into the pros, where he was named a Hall of Fame cornerback in 2021.

He has continued his success in his post-playing career as a broadcaster for FOX, featured on their flagship Big Noon Saturday crew. On top of that, his most ambitious venture is launching a whiskey line in 2021, branded as Woodson Whiskey.

Three years later, Woodson Whiskey has become the first official spirit sponsor of University of Michigan athletics. The legendary defensive back released a statement sharing his excitement for the partnership, stating:

“‘Those who stay will be champions’ were words I lived by every day while at the University of Michigan…but what happens when you leave? Well, I now have the answer for that: Those who come back will be champions once again,” Woodson said in a press release. “As a proud U-M Alum, I am now excited to have Woodson Whiskey be the very first spirit sponsor in the history of Michigan Athletics! Go Blue!

The press release noted that the “agreement will grant Woodson Whiskey visibility within the stadium among the alcoholic beverage lineup, along with two specialty cocktails being served in the premium club space.” 2024 marks the first season that alcohol sales will be permitted at Michigan Stadium.
