After downing Alabama in the Rose Bowl, Michigan football will be playing for the national title against the Washington Huskies on Monday. Despite his public cries for Michigan and Jim Harbaugh to face punishment, even saying that the Wolverines’ wins are tainted, ESPN host Paul Finebaum changed his tune recently, now stating that he would be surprised if the Huskies pull off the upset in the championship game.
ESPN host Paul Finebaum rolling with Michigan football in national title bout on Monday
The Washington Huskies are one of two remaining teams that are 14-0 this season — the other is Michigan football. Heading into Monday’s national title bout, the 10th in CFP history, Paul Finebaum is rolling with the Maize and Blue in a surprising turn of events.
“I would be (surprised),” Paul Finebaum said. “They’re a really good team but they were also on the verge the other night of maybe the biggest choke job I’ve ever seen and that concerns me the way they let that game get away. … They’re a phenomenal team but I really worry about how Washington sets up against the physicality of Michigan.
“Again, maybe I’m a little bit biased having just gotten back (from the Rose Bowl) and watched on the sidelines — Michigan manhandled a team that I thought was in much better shape, much faster. None of that turned out to be true.”
Washington Huskies and Michigan Wolverines facing off for all the marbles
Only time will tell, but Michigan football has a massive opportunity on Monday. For the first time in nearly 30 years, the Wolverines could be crowned national champions, and according to ESPN host Paul Finebaum, Jim Harbaugh & Co. will do exactly that. Per the FPI, Michigan is favored by nearly 75 percent heading into the matchup, and Las Vegas currently has the Wolverines as 4.5-point favorites.
