Yesterday, during one of the Iowa Hawkeyes’ fall practice sessions in Iowa City, IA, former Michigan football QB Cade McNamara went down with a non-contact injury, which has been confirmed to be something with his soft tissue. The video of the play did not look great, but from what anyone can tell, it appears that he is still in solid shape. Since the initial reports, more has come out about the incident, including Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz stating that he is “not alarmed” by the injury just yet.
REPORT: Ex-Michigan star Cade McNamara leaves practice with a knee issue.
Former Michigan football QB Cade McNamara appears to be day-by-day, for the time being
Yesterday, a former Michigan football QB went down with an injury — it was a scary sight, to say the least. As all sports fans know, non-contact injuries, especially ones suffered while performing basic movements like running, can oftentimes be the worst. That said, McNamara was back on the field yesterday (without pads) and appears to be generally okay.
Following Iowa’s practice, long-time Hawkeye head coach Kirk Ferentz gave more insight as to where this former Big Ten title-winning Michigan football QB currently stands.
“It’s unfortunate, obviously,” Ferentz said, as reported by HawksCentral. “He needs work like everyone out here needs work. But hopefully (it’s) nothing too serious. He’s not happy because he doesn’t want to miss time. He doesn’t like not playing, he doesn’t like not practicing. I just told him (that) injuries are part of the game. It stinks. … But my guess is he’ll wear the training staff out the next couple of days or whatever it takes.”
“It’s going to be one of those things we’ve got to take day by day,” Ferentz concluded. “And hopefully, it’s on the shorter end than the longer end.”
Early reports indicate that this is likely nothing too serious, which is great news for all college football fans. Regardless, both Michigan football and Iowa Hawkeyes football fans are undoubtedly monitoring this situation closely as the 2023 season approaches.
