Former Michigan football standout wide receiver Roman Wilson was carted off the field at Pittsburgh Steelers training camp on Tuesday with an ankle injury.

According to multiple reports, it happened during a Jet Sweep play that ended with Wilson rolling his ankle awkwardly.

Despite the scare, test results only showed a minor sprain and the Hawaii native should be healthy by Week 1, according to Ian Rapoport.

With NFL training camp heating up, 17 rookies from 2024 National Championship team will fight for a starting spot.

Wilson, who caught eight or more touchdowns than any of his teammates last season, was the sixth Wolverine drafted and one of four selected in the third round.

With a brand-new Pittsburgh offense featuring Russell Wilson & Justin Fields, there is no shortage of opportunities. With long-time Steeler Diontae Johnson in Carolina now, Roman was expected to win the starting role in the slot.

Missing training camp during a position battle is never ideal, especially for a rookie. When he returns from injury, Wilson will battle for targets with Calvin Austin III, Dez Fitzpatrick, and Van Jefferson.
