Fox analyst Colin Cowherd has been quite high on the Maize and Blue this season, even throughout all of the sign-stealing allegations and other outside noise that Jim Harbaugh has been forced to deal with. After the Wolverines‘ 30-24 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes last weekend, a win that boosts U-M to 12-0 on the year and sends it to a third straight Big Ten title game, Cowherd has had a lot to say about the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry. Today, he had endless praise for Harbaugh and his Michigan program while simultaneously grilling the Buckeyes.

Michigan football beats Ohio State, and the nation is talking

According to Colin Cowherd, Jim Harbaugh has become “like politics and religion” because you cannot change anyone’s opinion of him, yet everyone has a strong opinion of him. Now more than ever, Cowherd’s take is spot on about Harbaugh and the Wolverines.

Cowherd also mentioned that — even though Ohio State was a top program a few years ago — Michigan football has surpassed the Buckeyes with its three straight wins.

“More than anything, this cannot be disputed: Ohio State was arguably, along with Alabama, the best college football program in America about four years ago,” FOX analyst Colin Cowherd said Wednesday on his show. “Now they are the second-best program in their own conference (the Big Ten). Jim Harbaugh has relegated Ohio State to ‘just another team Michigan beats.’

“… Ohio State was pushed around by Michigan for the third year in a row — and this was the ‘great’ Ohio State defense. It was vaunted; it was exceptional. … Over 120 rushing yards in the second half — that is owning somebody.

“And like politics and religion, the (Jim Harbaugh) haters line up — they’ve got to find a way to tear him down. ‘He’s cheating, the scandal, the signs!’ Again, without the signs (against Ohio State), Michigan was even more dominant and scored on every second-half drive (that) they didn’t kneel. … In football, Ohio State can claim a lot of things, but one thing is indisputable: as long as Jim Harbaugh remains the coach at Michigan, you may occasionally beat him, but they will have the best coach and the best culture in the series.

“In politics, you can claim ‘we actually won, it was rigged!’ At Ohio State, ‘it’s cheating!’ … The only way to re-claim this series as a Buckeye — cross your fingers that he leaves.”

Big Ten title and National Title still hang in the balance

Michigan football will now move on past its win over the Buckeyes as it looks to win yet another Big Ten title. If successful, the Wolverines will likely play in the Rose Bowl (College Football Playoff) with a shot at the national title game at stake.
