Incoming freshman Jamar Browder is exactly the kind of wide receiver that Michigan WR coach Ron Bellamy is looking for this season. Browder is 6-foot-5, 208 pounds, making him the biggest receiver on the roster in 2025, and after his senior season logging 50 receptions for 1,137 yards resulting in 12 touchdowns, it’s clear he’s got both size and skills.
Bellamy spoke at a media session Monday and explained, “We want to get bigger in the receiver room. You know, we had some attrition, and we tried to make up for it via the portal or through high school.”
Browder is the kind of receiver who has the size that will level up the wide receiver room in a big way, along with fellow 6-foot-5 receiver Donaven McCulley.
Michigan wide receiver coach Ron Bellamy says Jamar Browder is ‘a fetcher’
When asked specifically about the addition of Browder to his roster, Bellamy explained, “He’s learning the playbook and, you know, trying to take it slow and make sure we bring him up the right way. But he’s basically a big receiver.”
As an incoming freshman, Browder has limitless potential, and Bellamy clearly has plans to capitalize upon that potential in the coming season.
Bellamy continued, “The ball’s in the air—(Browder is) gonna fetch it. He’s a fetcher. He’s a high-point-the-ball guy.”
Because of his height, Browder has a greater reach than most other receivers. That Bellamy recognizes this ability and is ready to develop it further is huge for Browder’s potential growth as he gets ready to suit up for the maize and blue this fall.
Browder will definitely get some snaps in the spring game, so Michigan fans will be able to see him in action and how his chemistry plays out with either quarterback Jadyn Davis or Bryce Underwood, depending on how the roster is split up.
