While JJ McCarthy and the Wolverines continue to battle the East Carolina Pirates in Ann Arbor, a former Michigan football quarterback — Cade McNamara — is having himself a game during his first-ever game as an Iowa Hawkeye.

Former Michigan football quarterback Cade McNamara is going off right now

Today, the No. 25 Iowa Hawkeyes are taking on Utah State for their home opener. Since the 2022 season came to a close, former Michigan football quarterback Cade McNamara has assumed the role of QB1 for Iowa, which may give them an advantage in the race for the Big Ten West title.

While JJ McCarthy and Michigan football are taking a 23-0 lead over East Carolina into the half, McNamara and Iowa are not doing too bad either. Despite having a poor offensive system, the Hawkeyes are leading 17-3, with Cade McNamara posting some impressive numbers.

So far, McNamara has completed 13 of his 20 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns — he began the game with two straight touchdown drives. While Cade McNamara is a thing of the past for Michigan football, it is still nice to see this former Wolverine thriving at his new home. In fact, at the end of the 2023 regular season, Michigan football and Iowa could be facing off in a JJ McCarthy vs. Cade McNamara battle for the Big Ten title, which would be quite fun to watch.
