Michigan basketball fans are pretty disgruntled with the program right now due to a subpar season in 2022-23 and a few recent mishaps with the transfer portal and on the recruiting trail. Recently, transfer portal loss Hunter Dickinson — the top player of the Juwan Howard era thus far — added some extra fuel to the fire, claiming that the practices at his new school are harder than what he experienced at Michigan.

A major reason why Hunter Dickinson left Michigan basketball was NIL money — he has been quite open about this. That said, on a recent episode of the ‘Rock Chalk Unplugged’ podcast, Dickinson was quite public about how his transition is going at Kansas, stating that their practices are harder than Michigan’s.

“They’re definitely a little bit harder than I expected,” Hunter Dickinson explained. “[The Kansas practices] were definitely harder than Michigan, especially at this point. I mean, Michigan wouldn’t even get to campus until like July 1. So, we have way more of a head start here.”

This is not a direct shot at Michigan basketball by any means; however, it is also not the greatest news for Maize and Blue fans as the Wolverines head into a crucial season this winter.

“I remember the first couple of practices, I was so out of shape and I felt like coming in, I was in pretty solid shape, but I was I needed a lot more growth in that area,” Hunter Dickinson continued. “I’m super excited to be in the best shape of my life. And that’s something that I really, really embracing and is trying to get better at each and every day.”
