Juwan Howard has assembled a solid Michigan Wolverines basketball transfer portal class thus far, and according to new reports, it appears that he is not done with the 2023 portal class just yet. During the upcoming season, new signee Olivier Nkamhoua, Michigan’s newest addition, is looking to form a “lethal” duo with a rising star in the Maize and Blue.

In the upcoming season, Olivier Nkamhoua is not aiming to be a new player during his first year in Ann Arbor. Rather, the former Tennessee Volunteer is seeking to improve on the player he already was. He firmly believes that the Michigan Wolverines basketball program offers him the best opportunity to do so.

“I’m not trying to come here and be some kind of brand new player,” Olivier Nkamhoua said. “I just (want to) improve on the player I already was and maybe show some things I didn’t have the space and opportunity to show.”

With this new addition, the Michigan basketball program is trending in a great direction. According to the newest Maize and Blue signee, he and rising sophomore guard Dug McDaniel could form a lethal duo for the Wolverines during the 2023-24 season.

“I think me and Dug are going to be lethal in the ball screen because we can create in any situation,” Nkamhoua said on the ‘Defend the Block’ podcast. “… I’m trying to have the best year of my life and hope to see everybody on the (Michigan basketball) team have it too.”

After winning an outright Big Ten title during his second season as head coach, Juwan Howard and the Michigan Wolverines basketball program faced setbacks, struggling to a Sweet 16 finish in 2021-22, followed by failing to make the tournament altogether last season. This year will be crucial in shaping the future of men’s basketball in Ann Arbor, MI, and the success of this transfer portal class will significantly impact the tenure of Howard and the rest of the Wolverines in the Maize and Blue.
