Many Michigan football star players have been battling injuries from last year in anticipation of the upcoming season. One such player is the third-year linebacker, Junior Colson, who addressed the media for the first time during fall camp yesterday — per his most recent injury update, he appears to be recovering well and ready to go for the Wolverines this fall.

Injury recovery update for Michigan football star Junior Colson

By the time Michigan’s impressive 2022 season came to a close, then-sophomore linebacker Junior Colson was pretty banged up. Like many other Wolverine standouts, this Michigan football star has had a few months to recover and get ready for the 2023 season — a year in which the Wolverines are being touted as national title contenders.

Yesterday, the media had the opportunity to ask linebacker Junior Colson about his injury recovery over the offseason. Here is what he had to say.

“Offseason was mostly focusing on rehab, trying to get as good as I can, just being better than I was last season body-wise,” Colson explained. “I think that was my main focus. Coach didn’t try to push me to come back anytime soon, it’s just mostly getting your body to a shape where you can play a game right now. And I think that happened around summertime. … I’m in a great place right now.”

This year, Michigan football has more depth at linebacker — will that help to prevent further injuries throughout the entire LB room this year? According to Colson, the answer is a resounding yes.

“Huge, huge,” he said of the team’s depth at linebacker. “I think, you know, we’ve got a lot of really great linebackers. I can take reps off each other and just learn off each other. Being able to get us through every single game we have to play this year. So I think that’s gonna be really good for us as a team but also as a core because of the way we mesh and the way we play together.”

Ideally, Michigan football can rotate these impressive linebackers in and out to prevent the recurrence of the injury issues that plagued them in 2022. With a roster featuring standout players like Junior Colson, Ernest Hausmann, Mike Barrett, and others, it’s safe to say that the Maize and Blue are in good hands at the moment.
