Since the beginning of the 2023 season, Michigan football star Rod Moore — a safety — has been limited or ruled out. When Big Ten play started, Moore began getting some serious reps; however, it still seems that the staff is holding back on turning Moore loose for the time being. On Monday, 9th-year head coach Jim Harbaugh gave us more on Moore’s injury status and how he is progressing back to 100% during the season.

Rod Moore only saw 17 snaps — the fewest of Michigan’s four safeties — against Nebraska over the weekend. While the Michigan football star is not being ruled out anymore, he is definitely being limited right now, prompting Jim Harbaugh to give an injury status update on Moore heading into Week 6, which pits the Wolverines against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on the road.

“Progressing really well,” Jim Harbaugh said of Rod Moore on Monday. “There’s so many times that we have guys who are working through something. That’s football.

“It’s rare — it’s lucky when you come out of a game as healthy as we did coming out of this game (against Nebraska),” Harbaugh added. “But you can — you can rest assured that there’s somebody, multiple guys that are working through something. And guys defy human capacity to play sometimes.”

Rod Moore being limited but still seeing some solid snaps

For the time being, perhaps even throughout the remainder of the 2023 season, Rod Moore is a player to keep an eye on. Being such a massive part of the Michigan football defense means that the Wolverines are going to have to play their cards right in order to keep him on the field.

It appears that, in regard to Moore’s injury and recovery, Jim Harbaugh wants him on the field. That said, based on his snap counts, it is clear that Michigan football also wants to ensure that Rod Moore can stay healthy, especially with NFL Draft experts pinning him as a top defensive prospect for 2024.
