Mason Graham has a massive club on his hand due to a broken thumb — an injury that he sustained against Bowling Green in Week 3. While the Wolverine star appears to be handling the injury just fine, it has prompted some of his teammates, such as transfer Josaiah Stewart, to nickname him ‘Thanos.’ Here is all of the injury info that we got from Graham on Tuesday evening at Schembechler Hall.

What happened to Mason Graham?

So, what exactly is wrong with Mason Graham? According to him, it’s a broken thumb on his left hand.

“Yeah, I knew (something happened during the Bowling Green game),” Mason Graham said. “Like, I came off the field, and my hand was just throbbing, and I knew something was wrong. Just went to the trainers and then shortly after the game, checked up on it and then took some X-rays and then found out — broken thumb.”

Graham also says that the club will be around for a few more weeks.

“Yeah, I have to (practice and play with the club),” he said. “I’ll be practicing in the club for a few more weeks.”

Graham added that the club doesn’t take long to tape up. “Probably like five minutes, not too long,” he said.

Graham just wanted back on the field for Michigan football

The Michigan football injury to Graham’s left hand sidelined him for two weeks of the 2023 season — Nebraska and Rutgers, the Wolverines’ first two Big Ten games of the year. According to Mason Graham, he was frustrated but managed to power through while sitting out. He also says that talking to Donovan Edwards, who had a cast on his hand during the last few games of the 2022 season, helped a bit.

“I was a little frustrated in those two weeks,” he said. “But I just knew that my time was gonna come when I come back, and I was gonna be healthy again. So just waiting for that moment and be there when the moment comes.

“I talked to him (Donovan Edwards) about it,” Graham said. “We had the same doctor and everything, so it was just cool being able to talk to someone about it and what their recovery was like.”

This weekend, Mason Graham will be debuting the club on his left hand for the second-straight game as the Wolverines look to improve to 7-0 on the year. While Graham’s hand is not a severe Michigan football injury, it’s certainly one to keep an eye on, seeing as the sophomore defensive tackle is an essential piece of the defense this year.
