Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy is one of the biggest names in the sport of college football. As an elite player in the Heisman race, the starting QB at a major program, and more, McCarthy has been doing well for himself in the world of NIL money and more. Yesterday, Wolverine offensive tackle Karsen Barnhart — who sees action on both the right and left sides of Michigan’s offensive line — confirmed that his quarterback is generous to his linemen with NIL proceeds.

JJ McCarthy is currently one of the top contenders for this year’s Heisman Trophy despite having yet to play a single snap in the fourth quarter. Still, the Michigan football star quarterback has thrown for nearly 1,300 yards, 11 touchdowns, three picks, and has the best QBR in the country (93.2) heading into Week 7 against Indiana.

A major part of McCarthy’s success with Michigan football thus far has been his elite offensive line, which took a minute to get rolling this year but appears to be back among the country’s best units right now. In turn, JJ McCarthy is apparently generous with his NIL money, according to offensive line veteran Karsen Barnhart.

Yesterday, Barnhart confirmed that JJ McCarthy does, in fact, give NIL proceeds to his offensive line. He made sure to add that, “It shows the character that he (JJ McCarthy) has, and how much love and trust that he has in the offensive linemen.”

Through six games of the 2023 season, no Power 5 offensive line has allowed fewer sacks than Michigan football has (3). The Wolverines are tied with Iowa State in this regard.
