The 2024 Michigan Wolverines football recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the sport’s best, currently ranking as the No. 4 class nationally. However, things in the 2024 cycle are starting to slow down, with most of the top prospects off the board. This has caused the Maize and Blue to shift their focus towards the 2025 recruiting class. Yesterday, a new crystal ball prediction favored Michigan to land a 2025 in-state wide receiver recruit.
Michigan Wolverines football recruiting earns crystal ball for in-state wide receiver target
Crystal balls are often regarded as good indicators of where top college football recruits will ultimately end up. For Michigan football, it appears that their recruiting pitch is paying off with 2025 in-state wide receiver Elijah Dotson, a three-star target from the University Of Detroit Jesuit High School. According to the 247 Sports recruiting rankings, Dotson is ranked as the No. 32 athlete and No. 8 player in the state of Michigan.
Currently, the Wolverines are the clear favorites to land this 6-foot-2, 175-pound wide receiver for the 2025 class. The ON3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Maize and Blue a 97.8% chance of securing this talented in-state prospect — ON3 also lists Dotson as a wide receiver instead of an athlete. Moreover, a new crystal ball prediction indicates that Michigan football is the current frontrunner.
If Elijah Dotson commits to the Michigan Wolverines, he would become Jim Harbaugh’s third commitment for the 2025 class, which is among the top 10 in the composite rankings. While the 2024 recruiting class remains at the forefront of the college football recruiting world, Michigan football is establishing itself as a strong contender for future classes. The Maize and Blue are looking to extend their national title window for years to come, and locking down these talented targets early on is a vital sign for the program’s ability to do so.
