Last weekend, four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, a major Michigan football recruiting target out of Idaho, was in Ann Arbor for the Michigan-Ohio State game. While the elite wideout talent was originally committed to Boise State, with Michigan and others close behind, Bair announced on Friday that he has de-committed from the Broncos and will re-open his recruitment. Right now, Oregon appears to be a strong contender, but don’t count the Wolverines out just yet.
Michigan football recruiting target Gatlin Bair de-commits from Boise State
A few months ago, Michigan football was narrowly beaten by Boise State for four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, who is said to be the fastest recruit in America right now. The Oregon Ducks appear to be a strong contender to flip him right now, though Michigan remains among the top contenders, it would seem.
It’s worth noting that, while Gatlin Bair is a member of the 2024 recruiting class, he will be taking a two-year mission after high school graduation, meaning he will not be getting to Ann Arbor until the 2026 season. Still, all of America’s top college football programs want Bair’s commitment, though the race is likely back down to just a few teams: Michigan and Oregon.
Bair’s rankings
Per the On3 Industry Rankings, Gatlin Bair is an elite four-star recruit out of Idaho. He ranks as the No. 41 player nationally, the No. 10 wide receiver in the 2024 class, and is the No. 1 player in the state of Idaho.
