As we all know, Michigan football is one of the biggest brands in the sport of college football, as well as one of the biggest university brands in the world. Throughout the 2022 Big Ten conference schedule, the Wolverines appeared in eight of the top-14 most-watched football games, including the No. 1 most-watched Big Ten game of the year.

Michigan football tops Big Ten viewership

Here are the top-14 most-watched Big Ten football games of 2022 (per BBsBigHouse1, Twitter). While Ohio State had a larger viewing audience on average, the Wolverines appeared in more “big games” last season.

    1. 17.1M, Michigan vs Ohio State
    2. 8.27M, Ohio State vs Penn State
    3. 6.60M, Ohio State vs Maryland
    4. 6.45M, Michigan vs Penn State

Michigan on display for incredible season

Of these 14 games, here is how Michigan football fared in all eight of its most-watched wins:

  1. Michigan 45, Ohio State 23
  2. Michigan 41, Penn State 17
  3. Michigan 29, Michigan State 7
  4. Michigan 19, Illinois 17
  5. Michigan 34, Maryland 27
  6. Michigan 27, Iowa 14
  7. Michigan 31, Indiana 10
  8. Michigan 34, Nebraska 3

For Michigan football, this is great to see. Not only did the Wolverines sweep its Big Ten schedule with a 10-0 record — including a 43-22 win over Purdue in the Big Ten Championship game — but they did so in front of massive TV audiences. This should do wonders for Michigan’s recruiting, it is great for U-M as a brand, and it is great to see that Michigan football is once again dominating the Big Ten conference.

Like the 2021 season, the Wolverines were one of the most-watched teams in the entire sport (not to mention having the largest in-person attendance record in the nation) throughout its 13-1 Big Ten Championship season.
