PASADENA — After winning yet another Big Ten title last month, Michigan football enters the Rose Bowl (CFP semi-final) as the No. 1 team in the country. Still, most of the betting money is on Alabama, and Kris Jenkins even noted that the Wolverines are being doubted despite their top-ranked status.

Michigan football and Alabama will face off in the Rose Bowl on Monday, with the winner moving on to the national title game in Houston. For Kris Jenkins, a senior captain for Michigan, any game could be his last, which he noted on Saturday.

“It’s crazy because I never thought I’d be at this point, especially coming in as a little rinky-dinky freshman,” Kris Jenkins told me this weekend. “… I’m embracing every single moment with my guys and the fact that we’ve come (this far), but we’ve still got a job to do.”

Kris Jenkins says Michigan is being doubted

Last year, Jenkins tells me that Michigan football overlooked TCU a bit, though he made it a point on Saturday to explain that the Wolverines are not doing the same with Alabama. In fact, he says Michigan is the one that’s being doubted this time around.

“We’re the ones being overlooked; we’re the ones being doubted,” Jenkins said. “We’re the ones where — we don’t have an opportunity, we shouldn’t even be on the field. And these are the moments that we live for.

“It’s exactly the same type of energy we got (from) the Penn State game or the Ohio State game.”

Wolverines still think they’re the No. 1 team in the country

Seeing as Michigan football is being “overlooked,” does Kris Jenkins still feel like he and his Wolverines are the No. 1 team in the nation?

“Absolutely (I feel like we’re No. 1),” he said. “… We feel like we’re the No. 1 team in the country, and we got an opportunity on Monday (Rose Bowl) to show people why we’re in this spot.”

Despite much of the money being on Alabama right now, Michigan football remains the betting favorite and could win its first Rose Bowl title since 1997 in the coming days.
