Blake Corum is one of the greatest players in Michigan football history. He’s also one of the best running back prospects available in the 2024 NFL draft and reinforced that this week at the combine.

Michigan football RB Blake Corum stands out at the NFL combine

The 40-time was the big question mark for Blake Corum this week and he posted a solid time of 4.53. It’s not blazing fast but Corum isn’t just about speed. He’s elusive and he showed what he can do in the running back drills. In fact, there was a comparison between Corum and MarShawn Lloyd, who had a faster 40 time, in the off-tackle drill. Corum was able to get through the drills much faster and looked much smoother. It’s a reminder that straight-line speed isn’t everything for running backs.

Corum rushed for 3,737 yards as a Michigan football player and broke the school record for rushing touchdowns with 58 and total touchdowns (61). The Wolverines legend rushed for more than 1,200 yards in each of the past two seasons while averaging 5.5 yards per attempt. Corum is built ready for the NFL and one prominent sports personality, Skip Bayless, likened him to all-time great Emmitt Smith.

Smith is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher and is considered by many to be one of the best running backs in league history. His former franchise, the Dallas Cowboys, could also use a new running back. Dallas has drafted a few former Michigan football players over the years. Corum could be next. Regardless, Blake The Great likely cemented himself as a day-two pick this week in the 2024 NFL draft.
