Today, Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh is under fire from the national media and the NCAA as he reportedly faces a four-game suspension during the upcoming 2023 college football season. For the Wolverines, losing Harbaugh would be less than ideal. Earlier today, Harbaugh’s attorney, Tom Mars, released a quick statement on the matter.

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh attorney Tom Mars releases statement on possible suspension

Here is what Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh’s attorney had to say about the potential suspension for recruiting violations.

“We are continuing to work cooperatively with the NCAA staff on an enforcement matter,” Mars wrote, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. “At this time, we are not allowed to comment on possible penalties or other aspects of the matter.”

Right now, nothing has been confirmed or made official by the NCAA. However, it is thought that these penalties will likely be carried out by the NCAA against Michigan football in the earlier stages of the coming season. If there is any good news for Michigan fans in all of this, it is that the Wolverines’ first four games are quite easy and should be easy wins regardless of these suspensions.

This week, Jim Harbaugh will make a public appearance at Big Ten media day on July 27th, which will be followed soon by the start of Michigan’s fall camp on August 1st and 2nd. For now, all that Michigan football can do is sit and wait to see what comes next in this saga, which has become known as ‘Burgergate.’
