Michigan football fans have been waiting for the Wolverines to make some moves in the transfer portal. U-M needs help at cornerback, wide receiver, quarterback, and maybe even the offensive line.
You can never have enough depth and it was clear after the Michigan football spring game that the Wolverines didn’t have enough at wide receiver. They needed to get another dude and according to a new crystal ball from Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider, Michigan is getting a dude — a dude it’s very familiar with.
That’s former Michigan football wide receiver/defensive back Amorion Walker. The 6-foot-4 athlete signed with the Wolverines in the 2022 class. He saw time at cornerback and wide receiver for the Wolverines but entered the portal this winter and left for Ole Miss.
Part of what led to that departure was Walker’s wish to play offense. However, after taking part in spring ball with Ole Miss, Walker re-entered the transfer portal earlier this week and Webb has projected him to return to Ann Arbor.
Amorion Walker is projected to return to Michigan football
Walker was part of Bruce Feldman’s Freak’s list in the past. He was thought to be Michigan’s starting cornerback last spring before he struggled. But looking at the receiver depth chart, Walker is exactly what the Wolverines need. He’s a big dude who can play on the outside, plus he’s not a stop-gap. He’s got multiple years of eligibility and he’s got legitimate speed to get deep.
Michigan football fans were incredibly excited when the Wolverines signed Darrius Clemons and Walker in the 2022 class, but now, both are off the roster. Walker could come back and have a chance to deliver on his promise in Ann Arbor, playing for Ron Bellamy, who was his primary recruiter.
The Wolverines still need a cornerback and more depth at multiple spots, but Walker would be a great fit for the wide receiver room and hopefully, this crystal ball becomes a commitment.
