Michigan football hasn’t landed a five-star recruit since the 2022 class but according to reports there is a real chance with Andrew Babalola.

Michigan football has been trending up with five-star 2025 offensive tackle Andrew Babalola. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle ranks 29th overall in 2025 according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Out of Overland Park, Kansas, Babalola is the fifth-best offensive tackle too. He also shares a connection to his home state with Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore, who is also from Kansas.

Babalola took an unofficial visit in March and the Wolverines impressed the elite big man. Michigan football hosted a bunch of elite O-line prospects in 2025 and 2026 recently. They are also trending in the right direction with 2025 tackles Avery Gach and Jack Lange.

Yet, according to Tom Loy, a national recruiting analyst for 247 Sports, the Wolverines have a “very real chance” of landing the commitment of Babalola.

“Michigan is very much a threat to get this one done,” Loy said on his recruiting podcast. “The interest in the Wolverines is very real but it won’t be easy.”

Kansas State is the current leader according to the On3 prediction machine. The Wildcats have a 27 percent chance to land the commitment of Babalola, but this recruitment feels wide open. Oklahoma is the only program to have an official visit scheduled.

Nebraska is also in the mix and has had Babalola on campus a couple of times. Just not yet in 2024. Auburn, Tennessee, and Michigan State have also hosted the five-star prospect for a visit this spring. Of all those teams though, I could easily see the Wolverines winning this recruitment.

They’ve got an elite offensive line and as another recruit said, Michigan football is an “O-line factory.” That has to be appealing to Babalola and this feels like a golden opportunity for Sherrone Moore to land his first five-star recruit as head coach.
