Today, new Michigan football investigation news was reported by Yahoo Sports and more. According to these reports, and the Big Ten Conference, the Wolverines are being investigated by the NCAA for sign stealing — more accurately, the NCAA wants to look into whether or not U-M was sending personnel to opposing team’s games to pick up on their signs. Here is an official statement from University of Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel.

Michigan football investigation news: Warde Manuel releases statement

Today, amid a flurry of new reports surrounding the Michigan football program and a new NCAA investigation, Michigan AD Warde Manuel released an official statement (below).

“I want to personally assure you that U-M Athletics will offer its complete cooperation to the NCAA in this matter,” he said. “At the University of Michigan, all of us are committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity for all members of our community. This is the same expectation I have of all coaches, staff, and student-athletes. Given (the) ongoing investigation, I will have no further comments at this time.”

This new NCAA investigation is right off the heels of another investigation into Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football, which plagued the 2023 offseason. While OC Sherrone Moore is off the hook, the NCAA is not satisfied with Harbaugh’s self-imposed three-game suspension and will look to offer more severe punishment when the infractions committee meets sometime early next year.

For the time being, all Michigan football can do it lock in on the task at hand: beating the Michigan State Spartans this weekend.
