INDIANAPOLIS, IN. — Back in January, Michigan football star running back Blake Corum announced he would return to Michigan for the 2023 season. After a season-ending knee injury against Illinois — an injury which many think kept him from being a Heisman finalist — Corum had unfinished business to attend to. Before Corum made his decision, Coach Jim Harbaugh had told him he was ready to go pro. However, the running back had other plans.

Jim Harbaugh raves about Blake Corum

Coach Harbaugh is clearly ecstatic for his star running back to return. With Big Ten Media Day underway and both Corum and Harbaugh in attendance, Coach Harbaugh had nothing but high praise for the senior running back.

“Blake said he’s coming back and it was pull it in, pull it down. Made my day, made my week, made my offseason,” Jim Harbaugh said of Blake Corum coming back to Michigan football for the 2023 season during Big Ten Media Day.

“What he shared with me was that he wanted the full offseason. He wanted to be able to not even get back to where he was, but better, stronger, faster, quicker than where he wanted that season. And then when it was time for him to go into the NFL, he wanted to be able to go in fully prepared, with a full workout leading up to those combines and to that draft.”

Blake Corum is the epitome of a Michigan man. He consistently strives to improve and be the best player and person he can be. Blake Corum returned to Michigan to achieve something that last year’s team fell short of — a national championship. If Corum plays anything like he did before his injury, he will undoubtedly be one of the best players in college football. Corum finally has the chance to win the Heisman Trophy, an honor he missed out on last season.

Jim Harbaugh had a lot to say regarding Blake’s character and work ethic. When asked about Corum’s future in the NFL, Harbaugh said, “When that time comes, nobody is going to get a better guy — they’re not going to get a better, more talented player. They’re definitely not going to get a player that works harder, or cares more, or is a more infectious positive to his teammates in terms of being a leader.”

Corum leads by example, as does everyone else on the Michigan football squad. With strong leaders, coaches, and teammates, Michigan football is setting itself up for success.

In this team’s culture, every single player will forever embody the spirit of a Michigan man. Harbaugh spoke about Corum as well as two other attendees at media day. “The three guys that are here, Kris Jenkins, Mike Sainristil, Blake Corum, each one of those three are walking talking billboards for how you should attack each day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind, and it’s infectious on our team. So I think Blake’s in a great place. Everything he thought of, everything he visualized in terms of where he would be right now. He’s well trained, he’s well thought out, he’s in a great place.”

Blake Corum’s future is bright, not only in his final season with Michigan football but beyond.
