Michigan football scored a transfer from the ACC on Saturday with the commitment of DT Tré Williams. Williams spent five seasons at Clemson and has one year of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-2, 310 pounder entered the NCAA transfer portal on Jan. 1, visited Ann Arbor and soon after made his decision.
Clemson DT transfer Tré Williams commits to Michigan football
Williams appeared in 44 games with four starts in his stint as a Tiger. He totaled 42 tackles, ten TFL, four sacks, two pass breakups and three fumble recoveries. Three of his four starts came in 2024, and he set career-highs in nearly every category. This season Williams posted 14 tackles, three TFL, two sacks and two pass breakups.
Clemson finished 10-4 this season with a 7-1 conference record. The Tigers won the ACC championship with a win over SMU.
Williams will be tasked with helping replace future first-round NFL draft picks Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. Much like Graham and Grant, Williams creates havoc when he gets off the line quickly. Michigan prides itself on playing tough and physical, and it all starts with the guys up front, so Williams could fit right in.
