On Wednesday night, Michigan football landed a significant commitment, this time from a highly-touted 4-star prospect from Ohio. Ted Hammond, a 4-star defensive end, has verbally announced his commitment to Michigan over many other major programs.
Michigan football lands Ted Hammond
According to the Rivals Network, Hammond is a 4-star defensive end, standing at 6-foot-5-inches and weighing in at 265 lbs. Hammon is a product of St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is another significant addition to the Wolverines’ 2024 class.
Hammond has a 5.8/6.0 grade from Rivals, and according to 247 Sports, he is the No. 31 defensive lineman and No. 13 player in Ohio in the 2024 recruiting class.
Hammond’s commitment to Michigan football comes just two months after the Wolverines’ visited Columbus to face off against the 2nd-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. As all Michigan fans recall, the Wolverines left the state with a 45-23 victory over the Buckeyes — Michigan’s first road win against Ohio State since 2000.
The year before, Jim Harbaugh led Michigan football to its first win over Ohio State since 2011 — a 42-27 home victory over the No. 2 Buckeyes in 2021.
Michigan’s class ranks top-10
Now, with Habraugh coming back and looking to do it again in 2023, Michigan is poaching yet another talented player from the state of Ohio. While Ryan Day was not actively recruiting Hammond (according to Rivals), stealing some talent from the Buckeyes’ territory is always an excellent feeling.
According to Rivals, Michigan football now has five commits in the 2024 class — a class that ranks 10th in the nation.
