Even without Jim Harbaugh, No. 3 Michigan football (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) managed to down No. 2 Ohio State (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten) last weekend at the Big House in Ann Arbor, MI. For FOX host Colin Cowherd, the Wolverines’ win proved something he already knew and had been talking about for some time: it wasn’t the signs, it wasn’t even Jim Harbaugh and his leadership presence on the sideline — Michigan is just really good. To start the week, he raved about the Maize and Blue after their impressive win.
Michigan football proves FOX host Colin Cowherd right
Even when networks like ESPN were fueling the narratives against Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football, FOX host Colin Cowherd stood strong in his belief that the sign-stealing allegations were not what made the Maize and Blue so successful. Now, that is not to say that Michigan should entirely avoid punishment, depending on what the investigation uncovers, but that allegations are not what made Michigan crush Ohio State, Penn State, win the Big Ten, appear in the College Football Playoff, etc.
Cowherd sounds off about Michigan’s win over Ohio State without Jim Harbaugh
On Monday, two days after Michigan football beat Ohio State 30-24 in Ann Arbor, even without Connor Stalions, Jim Harbaugh, and more, Colin Cowherd got to take his victory lap, praising the Wolverines for their success.
“With Jim Harbaugh off the field, (Michigan) is 6-0,” Colin Cowherd said on his show, ‘The Herd.’ “… Michigan is so good, they’re 6-0 (without Harbaugh), and that would make me — today — propel them to the No. 1 team in the playoff rankings, and that is huge.
“… Who has got the most impressive win? Michigan. Who has a first-round quarterback? Michigan. Who went undefeated without their coach on the sidelines? Michigan. Georgia has always been about defense. This year, who has got the better defense? Michigan. Harbaugh’s absence now can only fairly be viewed as a strength. (Michigan) is undefeated, beating two top-10 teams. (Michigan’s) defense is better than Georgia.
“… The only reasonable, fair take is that Harbaugh not being on the sidelines, and being able to beat a team as good as Ohio State — that is a real big boy team, and that defense is really good. Yet, Michigan just kept getting the ball and mowing over them, and running over them, and scoring over them.”
A shot at a third straight Big Ten title
With the Wolverines’ win over Ohio State, Michigan football will likely improve to No. 2 in tonight’s new College Football Playoff rankings, as well as a shot at a third straight Big Ten title looming against Iowa this weekend.
