The Michigan Wolverines have been heating up on the 2024 recruiting trail lately, and on Friday afternoon, Jim Harbaugh landed yet another top-ranked recruit. Earlier today, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class landed a commitment from Andrew Sprague, a four-star offensive tackle from Missouri and one of the most sought-after linemen in the class. Today’s commitment did a lot for the Wolverines, but most importantly, it bumped the class’s ranking into the top-2.

2024 Michigan football class moved to No. 2 in the country

The Michigan football program currently boasts 11 hard commits in the 2024 recruiting class. After signing a subjectively weak class — which hardly ranked in the top 20 — after winning a second-straight Big Ten title in 2022, the 2024 class needed to stand out from the rest. Since reaffirming his commitment to the school, Jim Harbaugh has crafted one of the best classes we have ever seen. It sounds like the class is set to keep improving as time passes.

With today’s commitment from four-star offensive tackle Andrew Sprague, eight of the Wolverines’ 11 commits in the 2024 recruiting class are four-star prospects or better. Michigan has seven four-stars so far, and one five-star, which happens to be the crown jewel of the class (Jadyn Davis).

Wolverines boast an elite class

Now, with all of this talent floating around, the Wolverines’ class has shot up in the 247 Sports team rankings yet again. What used to be a top-3 class nationally is now a top-2 class — today’s commitment edged Michigan football up one spot, only behind the Georgia Bulldogs.

We all knew that the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class looked elite, and it now has the ranking to match.
